Rhino- Orbital - Cerebral Mucormycosis Association With Cavernous Sinus Thrombosis In Diabetes Mallitus Patients

Rhino-orbital-cerebral-mucormycosis (ROCM), previouslyreferred to as orbital zygomycosis, refers to the presentation ofpathologic symptoms in the orbit as a result of fungal infectionscaused by fungi in the order Mucorales, most commonly by thespecies Rhizopus oryzae. ROCM usually occurs in animmunocompromised host and presents with initial symptomss u c h a s v i s i o n l o s s, p to s i s, d i p l o p i a , a n d ex te r n a lophthalmoplegia. Left untreated, ROCM can progress to acutevision loss and death .
